Toronto gets ready to welcome premier private social club, ProfessionELLE House

By Jessica Alex

A new, premier private social club is coming to Toronto, and it’s all thanks to one of Toronto’s top event planners and entrepreneurs, Treasa Leigh Brown. Treasa, founder of We Rise Experience SummitTM and Leigh Event Group is known for making boss moves, and ProfessionELLE House is the latest endeavour for this serial entrepreneur.

I recently had an opportunity to interview Treasa to find out more about the new social club.

What is ProfessionELLE House?

ProfessionELLE House is a premier private social club designed for historically underserved women in business. This includes entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and creatives at any stage of their journey. This social club aims to address the problem of limited resources, support, and the lack of opportunities that marginalized women face, both in and out of the corporate space.

ProfessionELLE House is offering a vibrant community that goes beyond the typical co-working experience and is intimately designed to foster deep connections, where members can engage, collaborate, and share their journeys in a supportive and uplifting environment.

The Makings of ProfessionELLE House

I, for one, am excited for the launch of ProfessionELLE House and wanted to get some insights on how it initially came about.

Jessica: Congratulations on the launch of your private social club! What inspired you to create ProfessionELLE House?

Treasa: I was driven by a deep desire to create meaningful change and transform the ecosystem for underrepresented women entrepreneurs in Canada—a desire born from my own experiences and the struggles I’ve encountered along the way. A lack of support –– both financial and communal –– was a challenge and a roadblock for me when I began my entrepreneurial journey. My goal was to create a space that would not only support their growth but also redefine the landscape for these women, providing them with the resources, community, and opportunities they need to succeed. ProfessionELLE House is the embodiment of that vision—a place where overlooked women can thrive, connect, and build generational wealth together, all while empowering each other to break through barriers and achieve lasting success.

Jessica: Can you speak to what gaps you were seeing when you decided to launch your social club?

Treasa: Absolutely. One of the key gaps I noticed was the lack of dedicated spaces and resources tailored specifically for marginalized women in the entrepreneurial space. Traditional co-working offices often fail to address the unique challenges that this group of entrepreneurs face, such as limited access to funding and networking opportunities. For instance, studies have shown that only 0.5% of venture capital funding in Canada goes to Black women entrepreneurs. This significant disparity highlighted the need for a space like ProfessionELLE House, where these entrepreneurs can not only work, but also find a supportive community, access resources designed with their needs in mind, and build the connections necessary to succeed.

Jessica: Opening up a social club is a major endeavour –– how has the journey been to open up ProfessionELLE House?

Treasa: What started as a dream has become a deeply humbling and inspiring reality, especially knowing that this house was built with limited resources. This has been the stark reality for the community of marginalized women in Canada, and I am so proud to sign my name to the commitment of opening a door to endless possibility and change. As a woman who shares the experiences of so many others who look like me, I understand that this space is urgently needed. From our interactions as professional women operating in Toronto, I know that this space is essential.

While the journey has been challenging, it has also been deeply rewarding. The support from the community and our business allies has been nothing short of a blessing, affirming the incredible opportunities that will emerge from this space. The anticipation and excitement surrounding the impact this space will have on the lives of so many women are palpable. Carrying the weight of being the first to create something like this has been no easy feat, but at the end of the day, I’m incredibly proud of having the faith to do what hasn’t been done before, and I hope it inspires others to pursue their own dreams.

“My goal was to create a space that would not only support their growth but also redefine the landscape for [underrepresented] women, providing them with the resources, community, and opportunities they need to succeed.”

The building blocks of community.

Through Treasa’s various projects, like We Rise Experience SummitTM, and now ProfessionELLE House, she has demonstrated her passion and dedication to mentorship and community-building. I wanted to dive deeper into what ‘giving back’ means to Treasa.

Jessica: How important has it been for you to give back to the community as a whole and to individuals? Is ProfessionELLE House another way that you have been able to give back?

Treasa: I wouldn’t call it giving back. The true premise is to build a strong community, pouring into it in ways that create lasting change—a change that naturally sparks a domino effect both within and beyond. That’s where the real give-back comes into play. ProfessionELLE House will be instrumental in helping women transform their mindsets, shaping how they navigate and approach business, and expanding the possibilities available to them. In turn, it will serve as the catalyst for a new wave of forward-thinking opportunities, redefining how women in business are approached and valued.

From the very beginning, I’ve been driven by a desire to be better for myself, my family, and my community. I’ve been blessed with the understanding of what it’s like to stand on the edges of struggle, and there’s nothing more rewarding than investing in myself. This has guided me down a dedicated path of creating opportunities that were too far and few in-between, and providing resources to those left without a seat at the table. My mentorship programs work within protective spaces — the We Rise Experience SummitTM and ProfessionELLE House are natural extensions of that ongoing commitment.

Final words of advice.

With Treasa’s expansive résumé and business knowledge and insights, including being able to launch ProfessionELLE House, I had to ask her for advice for other entrepreneurs that are striving to turn their big dreams into reality, too.

Jessica: ProfessionELLE House is just one part of your impressive résumé, and saying that you have inspired other entrepreneurs is an understatement. Thank you for your contributions and for being a trailblazer! Before you go, is there any advice you can share with other women entrepreneurs looking to take on a big venture like this?

Treasa: Go for it, go for yours! If you are called to pursue something, trust that the vision was given to you for a reason. Embrace the journey, no matter how daunting it may seem. Surround yourself with a supportive community, seek out mentorship, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Every step forward is progress, and even the challenges are part of your growth. Believe in your power. Invest in yourself. Stay resilient, and remember that your dream is worth fighting for. You have everything you need within you to succeed—just take that first step and keep moving forward.

A special thank you to Treasa for sharing details about ProfessionELLE House, which will be opening up very soon!
