Last-minute holiday promotion ideas

Are you scrambling, trying to figure out how to take advantage of the holiday promo season? Well, take a deep breath, because I have a few ways that you can still plan something for the holiday promo season.

Offer a discount

Shoppers are looking for deals this time of year, so give them one! For instance, you can offer a site-wide sale. Or, you can offer the sale only on select items. For example, you can offer a percentage off of products, or offer a certain dollar amount off of your service packages.

If you want to send the message that this discount is unique to the season, the discount should be different from all your other offers throughout the year. However, make sure that the discount also works for your bottom line.

Offer a free gift with purchase

This is the season of giving, after all, so another holiday promo is to offer a free gift with purchase. Depending on your business, you may be able to offer a free lower-ticket item when the purchaser spends $X or more, while supplies last.

If you don’t have a lower-ticket item as an option, is there a product or service from another brand that aligns with your offering(s)? For instance, I offered a free ring light with one of my packages, because it made sense for that particular package, and I could afford to offer that item as a gift with purchase as a limited time offer.

Offer “Buy One, Get One Free”

Who doesn’t love a good BOGO deal?! (BOGO also works for “Buy One, Get One Half Off” and other similar deals.)

This is a time of year when shoppers are most likely buying for someone other than just themselves, so being able to get gifts for two people, or one for a friend and one to treat themselves, is a pretty enticing offer.

Note: In every option, make sure that your profit margins make sense!

Additional tips

  • Make sure to promote your offer. Don’t just mention your promo on your website and then expect everyone to know. For instance, tell your email subscribers about your offer, as well as your audience on social media. Don’t be shy about sharing that you have a great offer going on!

  • Test your website and promo links, so that you avoid any confusion or issues when the promo offer goes live.

  • Don’t overcomplicate the offer for you or for your potential buyers.

  • Plan your promo content in advance. Don’t wait to the day of to figure out what you’re going to post, because that may lead to scrambling and ultimately more stress on your shoulders.
